Launch Party Held for Alistair's Town Walks Book
Dorchester Town Walks

On Monday 25th October a launch party for the book "Dorchester Town Walks" was held at Words Etcetera Bookshop in Cornhill, Dorchester. The event was well attended by those involved in contributing to the book, representatives of local businesses, local organisations and the media.

Speaking to the Dorset Echo about the book, Alistair said: "I am very pleased with it. Dorchester is a very special place and I hope people will find out how special it is with the book."

The Echo write up of the event made the point that the new book is aimed at residents just as much as at visitors. " Dorchester folk are being urged to explore their hometown with the help of a new walks book." Dorset Echo October 25th.

The book has received very favourable reviews, including one by Richard Hogg that appeared in the Bookshelf section of the Echo on October 8th:

"I am not a walker. Nor, as a rule am I particularly interested in exploring local histories. Dorchester Town Walks, though, may well be the book to get me out of the flat on a weekend and into the fresh air to explore the town's rich past.

Written by the award-winning crier Alistair Chisholm, this pocket-sized, 50-page nugget of information comes in at just the right length to spark interest and capture the imagination.

Providing walks that take in all of the unique historical features of Dorchester, with some dating back 4,500 years, the book is full of photos, illustrations and excerpts from famous regional writers such as Thomas Hardy.

Well worth a look." Richard Hogg
