This year the Dorset Show was bigger and better than ever with the added ingredient of a Town Criers' competition. The first round (Home Cry) took place in the Countryside arena at 11am on the Saturday. This cry was followed, at about 11.30am in the same arena, by the attempt to set the Guinness World record. The second round of the Town Criers competition (The Dorset County Show Cry) took in the Countryside arena at 2pm on the Saturday afternoon.
Unfortunately the weather this year did its best to spoil things. Relentless cold rain on the Saturday kept the large crowds away but the show was still deemed a success by those with stalls. A large number of people did take part in the mass town cry but, unfortunately not enough to count as a Guinness Reocrd. We look forward to doing it another year given more favourable weather.
